You used to do discs with your photo sessions.  Why don't you do that any more?

I don't do a disc anymore, but I do give you an online gallery to download your photos straight to your computer.  Even with the digital files included, I URGE you to get professional quality prints to hang on your walls.  You've GOT to show your pretty self off!

Why are photo sessions so expensive?

I invest lots of hours into each photo session that I shoot, especially weddings.  The time that I spend with you is only a FRACTION of the time that each session requires. I edit each photo individually, making sure it is the best that it can be.  Each photo can take between 2 and 30 minutes to perfect.  I refuse to give my clients anything that doesn't measure up to my standards...and quality takes time.

How many photos will I see in my online gallery?

You'll see between 20 and 50 photos for normal sessions, and about 20 an hour for each hour of wedding coverage.  I want you to have plenty to pick from!

I remember you taking a certain picture, but I don't see it in my online gallery.  Why?

Maybe someone blinked, maybe it was out of focus.  As much as I'd like to think that every photo I take is perfect...that is far from the truth.  I only let my clients see the best of the best.  I wouldn't want you to have poor quality photos on your walls, so there is really no point in letting you see the ones that don't make the cut.

Can I have the unedited files?

No, absolutely not.  It's not that I don't trust you...it's that I want to make sure that every file that leaves my hands is the best it can be, and that it represents me and my style accurately.

Where do you take your clients to do their photo sessions?

It depends on the type of photo session that the client is wanting.  If they want country/rustic, I have spots for that.  If you're looking for an urban theme, I have spots for that.  I work with my clients to find the perfect spot for the kind of sessions that they want.  Anything within 35 miles of my home in Travelers Rest, SC is fair game.  If it's farther, we'll talk about payment for travel.

Wedding FAQs

How many years of experience do I have? This will be my third full year as a full time photographer.

How many weddings have you shot? I'll cross the 60 mark by the end of this year!

What percentage of your business is weddings? All things wedding related, engagements, bridals, the weddings themselves...About 80%

Are you the person that will photograph my wedding? ABSOLUTELY.  You paid for me, you're not gonna get someone else.  If you add on rehearsal coverage, one of my amazing second shooters may show up to shoot your rehearsal, but only if I'm unavailable (probably because I'm shooting another wedding).

How do you typically dress for weddings? I like to wear all black, either a dress or dressy pants/top. That way I blend in to the background and I'm much less noticeable.  For summer/outdoor weddings I may wear something less...dark.  I'll always check with you first to make sure I know your preferences.

Do you have a studio?  YES! I'm fortunate enough to have a home studio that suits my session needs.

What type of equipment do you use? I'm a Nikon user.  You can check out the "What's In My Bag" to see exactly what I shoot with.

Do you bring backup equipment? Without a doubt.  And my backup has backup.

Do you need to visit ceremony and reception sites prior to the day of the wedding? I don't need to, but I really like to.

Do you have liability insurance? Yep.

Can you take studio portraits? Sure can.  I prefer natural light, but if studio is really what you want, we'll make it happen.

Can you retouch my images? What kind of photographer would I be if I couldn't?

What do you use to retouch my photos? I use a mix of Lightroom and Photoshop.

How would you describe your style?  I like a mix of editorial and photojournalistic styles.  My edits are clean and bright.  You won't find me using a lot of "Instagram-type" filters or colors.

What is your payment policy for weddings or some other session? I require a $500 deposit (non-refundable) to hold your wedding date. Non negotiable.  The balance isn't due until 30 days before your wedding.  I do accept payment plans.  For any other type of session, a $75 deposit is due immediately to hold your date.  The balance is due the day of your session.

How many photographs will be in my online gallery? I average between 400 and 800 for a typical 8 hour wedding, and 20-50 for an hour session.

How long will it take to get my online gallery back? It usually takes about 6-8 weeks for me to select, edit and upload your photos.

What is the benefit of a second shooter at my wedding?  I don't have a second shooter because I need one, I have one because I want one.  You can get a lot of different perspectives that a primary shooter can't do with just one person.  My second shooters ALL shoot weddings by themselves as well, so you can rest assured that they're well trained.  Also, it's always nice to have the opportunity to collaborate with one of my talented colleagues.

Do you offer any discounts? Well, yes and no.  I have a "bucket list" of types of weddings or venues that I would like to shoot.  If your wedding meets the criteria for one of those bucket list items, I can save you some money on your wedding.  If not, don't worry. I feel like my pricing is VERY reasonable and you're already getting the best bang for your buck.

I do also offer a military discount. The men and women that put their lives on the line deserve a bit of special treatment.
